Essex Style Show 2013

I recently attended Essex Style Show 2013 at Luxe Essex.

There are quite a few mixed reviews for this event, so here's mine.

:(:(:(:(:(:( Firstly, it took me 4 1/2 hours to get there and when I arrived no one knew what was going on. My main point of contact was only my designer who is lovely! The whole night was confusing unorganised and a big let down. The club smelt like sick EVERYWHERE! It wasn't clean and looked a little like a run down club.  As far an I know I was the only one who traveled and some people were very rude!! I felt sorry for all of the designers and models as it was 'bigged up' so much and was such a let down. It was over crowed and wasn't ideal on size to fit all of the stalls in.

I was a model for Pip Jolley ( @pipjolley http://pipjolley.com ) who is lovely. She is a London based jewellery designer.
I wore a dress from @vivofholloway http://www.vivienofholloway.com/ She is a 1940s and 50s reproduction fashion designer.

Here are a few pictures from the night:

Professional Beauty Expo London 24th and 25th February

Once again me and my girls Domini and Kerrie-Anne will be attending this event on the 24th February.
We have all attended this on previous occasions and loved it. Last year was my first time and I was sooo unaware of what it would be like and how much I would spend! People even took suitcases! I think that is the plan of action this year for me. I loved it and I am very excited for this year. I will be taking snaps of the day and will post them on that day or the 25th February. Watch this space. :) Below is a list of some of the brands I cannot wait to see.

MAC pro conceal and correct palette

My new MAC pro conceal and correct palette in Medium and my MAC 195  concealer brush.
I love how stylish this palette is with a magnetic closing mechanism  which personally I think is great. The MAC 195 concealer brush is so soft and is a great shape to apply the conceal to the face. I decided not to purchase a blending brush due to me using a sponge instead.

From left to right -
NC30, NW25, NC35, NW35, Mid-Yellow, Mid-Peach.
This has a creamy texture to it when applying. They can be used for all types of areas for your skin and even to make the perfect match to wear instead of foundation. I can not wait to test these out on my face!!

This palette was advised by a MAC makeup artist to use this way-

Use the Mid-Peach on any darkness around the eye area and apply before using the NW25 concealer.

When applying concealers around the eye I sometimes warm the product on my finger tips before applying to the eye area.

I then use the Mid Yellow to conceal any redness and apply before foundation.

The NC30 and the NC35 shades are brill for any blemishes you may get on the face.

I preferred to use it differently-

I applied my No7 foundation to my face using my sponge. I then used my MAC concealer brush to apply concealer from my MAC palette. I applied NC30 around my eye area and beside my noes and blended with my finger. I then went over this with NW25 just to colour match with my foundation. I used NC35 on my veins which appear on my cheeks :( and on any blemishes I have, same again I just blended with my finger. I use mid-yellow bellow my eyes on top of my cheek bones to make them contour. I am very different when it comes to adding darker shades to my cheek bones. I add it around the apple of my cheek bones and just bellow, this adds depth for when your not smiling. I blend this using my sponge.

And that is how I use the MAC pro conceal and correct palette in Medium

Nirvana Spa

Here are my new high street beauty products for the shower and for cleansing the face.

These are priced at affordable prices and were purchased at Asda. Nivana Spa were awarded the UK's No.1 Day Spa award last year and I think it's perfect that they have created the products so you can use it at home.

These have been advised to use in stages, as you can see each item is numbered. I have purchased more than one of the same number but they have different purposes.
Step One - Jojoba and White Jasmine moisturising shower and body wash 225ml.
Directions: For a nourishing cleanse - Step into a warm shower and lather onto skin before rinsing. This is to draw out impurities and clarify skin.

This leaves the skin feel so soft and clean. The smell is amazing and is the same throughout all of the products.

Step two (face) - Exfoliate - 5 minute magic mask - Intensive pore-refining mask to smooth and enhance skin texture.
Directions: Smooth and even layer of the mask over face and neck, avoiding eye area. Massage in gently until beads break and release Vitamin E and disappear. leave for 5 minutes and remove all traces with warm water. use once or twice a week. Follow with step 3.

I have used this once and was so refreshing. I have quite sensitive skin but this was brilliant. It is a pink mask which doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or masked by products.

Step two (body) - Jojoba and White Vanilla warming salt scrub -  This warming clay salt scrub not only draws out impurities to deeply cleanse, but also gently buffs away dead skin cells, leaving skin clear, soft and smooth.
Directions: Massage a generous dollop onto damp skin in circular movements, adding more water for extra beneficial warmth. Rinse well and follow with nspa body butter for supple radiance.

As soon as I put it in my hands and put it on my body it felt warm. I thought it was the first time excitement, but it actually does get warm.
Step three (body) - Jojoba and white vanilla body butter - Treat extra thirsty skin to this ultra rich and totally indulgent Body Butter.
Directions: Spend time massaging into clean, dry skin - paying particular attention to elbows, knees and feet.

All of the body butters I have used in the past left my skin sticky. I would feel as if i would need to wash again, but I love this one. The smell lasts all day and feels so light on my skin.

Step three (body, mostly my legs) - Jojoba and white musk dry body oil -  A rich blend of rosehip and Jojoba oils makes this sensuous dry body oil deeply nourishing and hydrating, without leaving the skin greasy.
Directions: Spray the oil lightly onto damp or dry skin and massage over the body with long sweeping movements to allow the oil to soak in, relaxing a moment before dressing.

I think this is my favorite of all of the products. It is a dry body oil, but doesn't leave the oily feeling. It's as if the oil soaks into the skin straight away and doesn't transfer onto his skin.

Step 3 (face) - Replenishing moisture mask - vitamin rich mask to restore moisture to dehydrated skin - treat ultra-thirst, stressed skin to this deeply nourishing and soothing mask. )Packed with moisturisng ginseng and Vitamin E, it will restore, calm and soften your complex.
Directions: Apply an even layer to a clean face and neck, avloiding eye area. relax for 10-20 minutes then smooth away any excess using a cotton pads soaked with warm water. Use 2 - 3 times a week.

This is just a brilliant wake me up. Because you only use it 2 - 3 times a week it would last so long and works well with my skin.

Step four (face) - Nourishing Eye and Lip treatment - Restores softness, reduces dark circles and puffiness.
Directions: Using your ring finger, apply just a small amount of cream to the eye area, working gently, from the inner brow round to inner under-eye, avoideing the eye-lid. Also smooth over and around clean dry lips. Use daily.

I have just tested this on my lips and it was like instant relief! Instant hydration and such smooth lips! Didn't expect that :)

Mistletoe Eyecolour (light lemongrass shimmer)
GREEN!! GREEN!! That was what I thought when I saw this collection, I hate green on eyes (well on my own eyes) BUT this colour is beautiful! The shimmer brings the colour to life. The only thing I found was this was when putting it on the eye, if brushed too much the colour faded slightly, but left a beauty shimmer.

The Gift Eyecolour (bronze copper shimmer)
This is the type of colour I would only go for in the past (of cheap brands) It's a colour your can wear and match with absolutely anything. I watched a youtube video the other day and the lady said it's always best to wear similar colours on the cheeks, eyes and lips, but I think this colour is one you blend with multi colours.

Present Eyecolour (melon sorbet matte)
For my skin tone if you can see in the swatch, this colour doesn't show up very well and I personally think it will wash me out when applied to my eyes. To use this I would pair with colour similar such as the Garland Eyecolor (champagne nude sheen) to bring the pinkness out slightly. I found that this was the only colour that was matte, and was slightly disappointing.

Tinsel Eyecolour (sapphire twilight shimmer)
I was very excited when I saw this colour. I love dark colours on my eyes as well as glitter/shimmer, so this was every all wrapped up in one. It has a blue/
sapphire under tone to it, and when applied looks darker that what it shows in the pot. Its still brill and would make the PERFECT smoky eye.

Bauble Eyecolour (bright amethyst shimmer)
I wore this colour today on my eyes, and was slightly disappointing :( It doesn't have long wear to it, I applied it around 7:15am and it is now 17.39pm. It is still shimmering but the purple has faded. It could have been be rubbing my eyes or even not applying enough this morning, but with my Zany Bare Minerals eye shadow, that could last till morning if it had it's own way.

Garland Eyecolour (champagne nude sheen)
Just like the
Present Eyecoluor I wouldn't wear this on it's own. I think it's great for highlighting the eyebrow shape and maybe adding colour to your lower eye line. If used correctly it can go over other eye shadow to add it's own little tint of shimmer.

This is such a cute little box! Presentation is 10/10!:)

Candles

I have fallen in love with candles in the last few months! (I know it isn't a beauty product but where is the rule) ;)

My friend's received candles for Christmas and some are already lovers of them especially Yankee Candles ->
Like everything I am the last to use these. I have just ordered my own two wick tumbler candle from Very which is now not on their website so I can't find a picture so sorry. I will post one once I received it which hopefully will be next week :)

I know that TKmax also smell amazing candles and when I was there around three months ago there was a Calvin Klein one and it smelt AMAZING! I now wish that I had purchased it. Soooo on my next trip there I will definitely have a look!

I FINALLY GOT MY CANDLE!!!!

And it smells amazing!!! I burn it every day in the evening. It has gone down quite a bit already and with the time I burn it for I doubt it will last very long. But for the price I paid for it, I am happy :)

MAC Makeup and Bare Minerals

Here are a few swatches. I don't have a brilliant camera so the colours aren't brilliant so I am sorry :(
Once I buy my camera I will upload pictures and videos of how my makeup looked when using this products.

So I will start with the MAC makeup -

MAC Makeup
From right to left.
Dazzle Me eye shadow - Stubborn Brown eye liner - Mulch eye shadow

I wrote a comment on this prior to trying the product. NEVER do that! I wasn't very happy with the swatch but when  you do your makeup and use these to do eye makeup with its amazing! All three colours complement them self's. I would do my makeup around 8am and it would last ALL day long right up until I would go to bed. The mascara that came in this collection is possibly the best mascara I have ever purchased! It curls my eye lashes like nothing has eve before. I don't use a eye lash curler and with this mascara I don't think you'd need it, and if you did use it, it would look like you had eye lash extensions on.
Bare Minerals makeup
Apricot lip gloss - Prime Time brightening eyelid primer - Round the clock waterproof eyeline 10pm - Zany eye shadow - Exquisite radiance blusher.

The best makeup I have purchased! The eyelid primer add a shimmer to the eye lid which lasts all day long and just softens the eyelids. The lip gloss isn't amazing but it's impossible to stay on whilst your eating or drinking but I love the brush of it, it's so soft. The best past about more expensive/better quality eyeliners is that they LAST, they don't smudge or create sleepy dust in your eye and it looks perfect all day long. Today I used the exquisite radiance blusher and the zany eye shadow on my eyes today and it looked so lovely. The shimmer and glitter pigment just opens the eye up and adds a nice touch to the eye. Overall I love them!

This collection was purchased from the MAC Cosmetics website at £36 with free P&P.
This came with a MAC 275SE angle eye shadow brush which is so soft and very high quality.  As it's an angle brush it helps to create the perfect arch when doing your eyes. I also use this to blend colours if I used two for one look.
This collection was purchase from the Debenhams website for £36 with free P&P.
This came with a precision eye and cheek brush which is so handy to use when doing eyes and a little bit of shadow falls to the cheek and I quickly change sides to brush away the excess. The best thing I love about it is that I can feel the quality of the brush with the softness. the cheek side is angled so when applying blusher it gives great balance. Once applied I used the kabuki brush from Virgin Vie Cosmetics to blend.

This is a sample from the Debenhams website which came with my Bare Minerals order. Smells soooo good. It's a very lady like smell and may even consider purchasing it :

Nivea Lip Balm

 Hey guys :)

Having smooth and well moistured lips is a big must for me especially when the weather is changing.

I use a lot of Vaseline products but as I received this a gift I thought why not review it :)

So lets start from left to right.

Nivea - Essential Care - This is the original Nivea lip balm. This is a clear balm with a flight shine to it and can be applied to natural lips or even lips with lip stick on. This has no smell to it.

Nivea - Pure and Natural - Milk and Honey - This has a slight golden/yellow hint of colour to it. This would drastically changed the colour of your lips. This smells a little bit like honey which is very nice to smell under your nose. :)

Nivea - Pearly Shine - It does what it says on the packet - As you can see in the picture it looks like a pale pink colour which it on the actual lips. For me this is my least favorite as pastel colours on my lips make me look very washed out.

Nivea - Soothe and Protect - They all soothe the lips but the balm has a SPF 15 factor to it so is best used whilst on holiday. Lips are one thing that people forget to protect when in the sun, but there is nothing worse that sore lips.

Hope you like them :)

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Body Bar

Hi!

I will be using the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Body Bar every day for the next week every night to see how it improves my skin tone, blemishes and spots.

I will be taking a picture every day to document the day-to-day progress.

The thing I love about the bar is that is has a fresh minty smell to it as well as the tea tree but the girly smell of lavender too. It isn't a harsh smell which is perfect.

The description of the body bar -

The best wake up call for weary skin. Give your body a tingly treat that cleans, exfoliates and helps stimulate all skin types. Natural extracts of lavender, tea tree oil and peppermint which leaves you fresh and invigorated.

Direction: Wet skin, create a rich lather and rinse thoroughly.

Watch this space as I will be updating the comment daily.

Day 1: Just got out of the shower and my face is feeling fresher than ever, my eyes feel awake and it feels so soft. When I applied it, it was like a foam consistency. As soon as I started massaging it into my face I could feel it working, as if it was automatic. There was a very nice tingling sensation followed by a cold feeling on my face as if i was hit with a fresh breeze. It was lovely :) When i washed it off it went quite dry and panicked a little because I hate it when my face a dry and stiff. BUT after a few seconds it went back to normal and I didn't even have to moisturise my face after wards. I am going to try and stay away from moisturises as it create a oil finish which isn't good when I am trying to clear my face. I have take photos and will add them after the full week.

Day 2: Literally just washed my face, its 00:19am so I am very sleepy!! My face feels revitalized though as if its ready to for another 24 hours! Just like yesterday it feels very fresh and slightly softer today, it my just be my mind thinking that I have to feel a difference as its a new product. I have a lot of spots today :( but I feel as if this body bar drys them out in a VERY good way to get rid of them and the tea tree will aid them very well. My face feels amazing but I am still tired so nighty night :)

Day 3: >>>>> this picture show day three of washing my face every night with the Tea Tree Body Bar. The pictures are taken in the same light with no flash. (I don't know how I am so pale on day 3 lol)
I am very happy with this body bar!!

Paul Mitchell

Ahhh just received my Pal Mitchell samples from the tea tree range. I will be reviewing this product this evening. :)

Watch this space.

Day 1: Just got out of the shower and leaving my hair to dry naturally. First thing i would like to stay is that my flat now smells lovely of tea tree, lavender and mint :)
When I applied a small amount into my hair and started to massage it into my scalp, the same feeling from when I washed my face with the tea tree body bar happened. The shampoo not only washed my hair but treated my scalp. Depending on how I wear my hair my scalp can become dry and flaky quickly which no girl or guy wants.
Even when wet I could feel a difference already. Sometimes with shampoos I have used previously my hair can feel very dry after I wash the shampoo out but this didn't.
The conditioner wasn't thick and over powering (which I think is better) and I loved the pump bottle because you can actually control how much you use to save product.
After taking my towel off my scalp feels cold which is the minty sensation and fresh.
There's nothing better than a fresh feeling head.

Day 2/Wash 2 to follow.

This tea tree range is one to purchase!
Thanks Paul Mitchell.
